What led you to software engineering?
“I found computers interesting at a young age and wrote my first programs on an Apple IIe. Software engineering is a way of making things by mixing creativity and engineering.”
What is your favorite thing about being a Software Engineer?
“I enjoy problem-solving to fix real-world problems and create something that you can be proud of.”
What is one thing that would surprise people about your field of work in agriculture/data?
“In distributed architectures, it can be very difficult to analytically identify causality, so troubleshooting and tuning are surprisingly imprecise.”
What brought you to CIBO?
“The opportunity to help scientists use computers at scale to model real-world scenarios.”
What are your primary responsibilities at CIBO?
“I lead the engineers who manage the cloud infrastructure used for the modeling work and software products.”
What do you find the most rewarding about your work here?
“Being empowered to make changes.”
